We are expanding our fleet this year with six new Boeing 777F freighters. The renewal of our long-haul aircraft fleet is an investment that is part of the plan to strengthen our intercontinental network. In addition, these State-of-the-art aircraft also support the DPDHL strategy 2025 to improve our carbon footprint.

Cheerful birds

In 2018 we ordered 14 new Boeing 777Fs. Four for 2019, six for 2020 and the remaining four can be expected in 2021. The new aircraft have to replace the old ones. The renewal is part of the overall modernisation of our intercontinental long-haul aircraft.

“We are delighted to welcome more Boeing 777Fs into the DHL Express family this year,”
– John Pearson, CEO of DHL Express.

So this year we will receive six new Boeing 777F-200 cargo planes. On Thursday, February 20, the first aircraft landed at its future base, the Cincinnati/Northern Kentucky International Airport (CVG). We are very satisfied with it, so we can call ourselves happy birds.

Strategy 2025

Our strategy for 2025 will focus on e-commerce and efficiency to grow and increase our profits. With a payload of 102 tonnes and a range of 9,200 km, the B777F is the best choice. They are also more economical and reliable than older aircraft and reduce CO2 emissions by 18 percent. The Boeing 777F is equipped with top-of-the-range fuel-efficient technology and has the longest cargo hold of any widebody freighter. This enables us to work more efficiently while meeting the increasing global demand for express logistics. We currently fly more than 260 dedicated aircraft in 220 countries and territories.

“The new Boeing 777F’s allow us to expand our intercontinental connections while reducing CO2 emissions and fuel consumption. This will enable us to continue to provide customers with the excellent quality they have come to expect from us as we work to expand our global services,” said Travis Cobb, EVP Global Network Operations and Aviation at DHL Express.
