DHL Express invests in a brand new Service Center in Roeselare

DHL Express Nieuwe Warehouse Roeselare

It’s official: the construction of our newest service center in Roeselare has begun!

With the start of the first works on our site of almost 13,000 square meters, the development of a new service center in Roeselare is a fact. At least 75 jobs will be created in the region. And just as striking: almost 1,000 square metres of the new site will be green. In the distribution center, a parcel will be handled almost every second of the day – which makes up to 3,000 per hour.

Project developer Global Estate Group acquired the site in 2014. They started with the first foundations and earthworks of the DHL Service Center in West Flanders, a warehouse where incoming goods are not stored, but immediately loaded with outgoing goods. This gigantic site has the size of almost two football fields. 75 employees of DHL Express will have a brand new warehouse of approximately 2,800 square meters where no less than six trucks can drive at the same time. The service center in Roeselare gets a total of 3 entrances, 60 loading docks for light trucks and vans, a separate car park for employees, customers and visitors, and bicycle parking facilities. There will also be solar panels on the roof.

“Roeselare is an enterprising city. Our economy has been doing very well in recent years, with the result that thriving international players such as DHL are also finding their way to our region. We are therefore very pleased that the site is being given a new interpretation. It will create additional jobs and give a boost to our local economy”.

Equally noteworthy, DHL Express’ new Service Center in Roeselare will be a sustainable building with a BREEAM certificate. In other words, an international sustainability label that indicates minimal environmental impact.

“This new Service Center in Roeselare will be equipped with the most environmentally friendly solutions and technologies. This is to ensure that we are one step closer to Deutsche Post DHL’s mission to generate zero emissions by 2050”.

Danny Van Himste, CEO DHL Express

If all goes according to plan, the new Service Center should be operational by January 2020.
