My name is Kyllian and I started to work at DHL in October 2020 as a young professional. I started my adventure right in the middle of the coronavirus period. That’s why it is possible that many of my colleagues have not yet gotten to know me. For anyone who is curious, this blog will not only provide a glimpse of me as a person, but above all into life as a young professional at DHL. Welcome!
Who am I?
For as long as I can remember, I’ve been passionate about everything to do with travel, transport and logistics. This may sound like a cliché for someone who works at DHL, but I really mean it and I can also prove it! I have already taken some amazing, interesting and educational hiking tours across the world with my friends. I also studied in Canada for a few months which was a fascinating experience! Ever since my student days, I have dreamt of getting a job in the international sector. I can’t even begin to explain to you how enthusiastic I was when I got a positive answer from DHL.
My DHL young professional adventure
I’m taking part in the DHL young professional career path together with 6 other young professionals. As a recent graduate, it gives you the opportunity to try out various jobs at DHL in a relatively short period of time, through a rotation programme. The aim is to give you a broad overview of the various business process in the company and also to give you experience in various departments.
I took my first step in my personal DHL journey as a Frontline Advisor with Customer Service. After a few weeks, I was also able to join the Backline team. I gained a lot of knowledge, insights and skills from both of these positions. It was my first immersion into the activities at DHL. After this, I started work with Business Support, which I have been able to call my home for the last six months.
The unique benefits of the DHL young professional career path
In my opinion, the major plus-point of the DHL young professional career program is the unique opportunity it gives you to be able to build up an extended network from all manner of teams and departments. After all, it’s always pleasant to meet new people! Furthermore, this career path is recommended for the eternal doubters among us, myself included! After my studies, I found it very difficult to determine exactly which job appealed to me most and what I really wanted to do in my career. You should expect the unexpected, as the position that you may at first have thought was totally not for you could surprisingly turn out to be your dream job!

As a young professional at DHL, they provide perfect support which you can rely on. This help is provided by both the SMT and by experts in the field. One of those experts who provides support is Evelien Van De Mert, who is a Talent & Engagement expert in HR. She really makes sure that we get the chance to discover and develop all of our abilities. More specifically, she does this by mapping out an individual development plan for each of us that is based on interviews and appraisals. My next move will be to NPA where I will be finding out what customers have to say in order to try to offer an even better service to our customers.
